STUDIO POLICIES:
LESSON CORE VALUES - To ensure a successful and enriching learning experience please review the following expectations: 
  • Consistent Attendance & Daily Practice: Progress is tied to regular lessons and daily home practice.
  • Recommended Practice Time: Preparatory Level (15 minutes/day); Beginner (30 minutes/day); Intermediate (45-90 minutes/day); Advanced (1-3 hours/day). The focus should be on the quality of practice rather than the duration.
  • Assignments: Students should complete assigned technique, repertoire, and written theory homework.
  • Nail Care: students must keep their nails trimmed short. 
  • Parental Support: Parents should help supervise personalized practice assignments noted in the student's notebook and are always welcome to reach out with any concerns or questions.​

Lesson Policies
  • Students are expected to arrive on time for their lesson. Lessons that started late due to student tardiness will not be extended and will end at the regularly scheduled time. 
  • Supplies to be brought to each lesson: music/theory books that we are currently using & notebook
  • If student is showing continuous lack of preparation, disinterest, disrespect, or is not valuing our time together, I reserve the right to terminate our lessons. 
  • No refunds or credits will be issued due to missed or canceled lessons.
  • ​I reserve the right to offer online lessons in place of studio lessons if circumstances require it.

Cancellations
When you register for lessons, you are reserving a specific weekly time for the duration of the lesson contract. The studio runs at full capacity and makeup lessons are not guaranteed. There are NO make-ups and NO refunds for missed lessons, recitals, or events. Please always provide notification of the cancellation (phone call, text message, and email are the only accepted forms of notice). 

Student Illness: If a student is ill (cough, sneezing, fever, etc.) please do not bring him/her to the lesson. If the student is feeling up to it, a virtual lesson may be scheduled at the student's original lesson time. .

Severe Weather: We may be able to schedule a virtual lesson at the student's original lesson time.

Instructor Cancellation: In the event the instructor cancels a lesson due to professional reasons, health, or unforeseen circumstances, students will receive notification and the lesson will be rescheduled. 

Social Media: Individual and group photos/videos will be taken during piano studio recitals and piano lessons. These photos/videos may be used for publicity on Livia Lai Piano Studio’s Website, Facebook, and Instagram page. If for any reason you do not wish me to use individual photos of yourself or your child, please let me know.

Termination
Please give at least a month’s notice if you wish to terminate lessons. If notice is not given in time, that month will be charged regardless. 

At the discretion of the teacher, students may be asked to discontinue lessons at any time if they have unpaid tuition, an excessive amount of absences/unprepared lessons, lack of practice, damage to the studio or property, or if the student shows a genuine lack of interest.

Communication
The teacher/student relationship is important for making any progress in learning. Respect for each other and the willingness to put forth effort must be mutual for this relationship to work. This will assessed regularly and communication between the student, parents, and teacher will be key in working through this process.

Please be open with me about any concerns or questions you may have about practicing or lessons with the child.  I hope that by communicating freely about how the student is progressing we can work as a team to make the student the best he/she can be.
